Thinking ...

The People's Republic of China -- one of the biggest global economy since ancient times suppressed temporarily by imperialism is now on the rise again. The society has moved from Taosim to Confucianism to Buddhism to Communism. Alternating between spiritualism and materialism it is an example of the human dilemna of being entangled in worldly pleasures and being attracted towards the higher truths. Hopefully Democracy will bring its people more comfort and more freedom.

The song is from a movie based on a love story in pre-independence India

Civilizations are groups of people hence behave just like people. While people live following biological and physical forces i think civilisations live following their morals and ethics as their life forces. Love is probably one of the many forces that has kept the indian civilization alive for centuries. There are love songs in just about every movie showing its importance in the culture.
